How To Clean Your Goose Down Duvet
If you do decide to wash your goose down duvet duvet, the good news is that you can do so, but we would strongly recommend that the maximum temperature for washing your duvet to be 30° C.
You should wash your goose down duvet every 6-12 months if possible. Use non-bio detergent and only use a third of the normal amount (don't use too much).
A good indication as to when to wash your duvet is when it appears to be less fluffy than previously.
Make sure to choose a delicate wash cycle: select wool wash setting or delicate wash cycle, as these 2 options not only wash with a pre-set low temperature, but will wash at a low number of revolutions per minute.
Once your wash cycle is complete, rinse your duvet thoroughly by doing at least two rinse cycles to remove any detergent residue.
Why Not Have Your Duvet Professionally Cleaned?
Although you can wash your goose down duvet at home in the washing machine, just bare in mind that if your duvet is bigger than a double, we would highly recommend having your duvet professionally cleaned. Any larger than a double sized duvet, there is a good chance that the down will compress due to lack of space.
Most people have their duvet professionally cleaned to ensure that their duvet is not ruined and stays in tip-top condition. This is best practice.
Drying Your Duvet
When it comes to drying your duvet, make sure to tumble dry on a low heat, as too much heat can damage the down. Better still, if the sun is shining outside, dry your duvet on the washing line for a lovely fresh smelling duvet.
Remember to shake your down duvet after drying, to fully restore fluffiness.
