What Does Thread Count Mean?

Thread count refers to how many ‘threads’ there are in a square inch of the fabric, which includes both horizontal and vertical threads. The more threads in an inch, the more tightly a fabric is woven.

Therefore, 800 thread count bedding is bed linen with 800 threads per square inch. The higher the thread count, the smoother the fabric.
